Katie Nicoll supported by DayDrunk and Euan Black- McChuills, Glasgow, 5th September 2026.

Katie Nicoll, a Scottish singer- song writer played McChuills in Glasgow, on 5th September supported by Euan Black and DayDrunk.

The atmosphere in this small intimate venue was electrifying. You could feel the passion for the music in every audience member, and with each act bringing very different vibes to the room and playing quite different genres, there was a sound during the evening for everyone. 

First on was Euan Black, a Scottish artist based in East-Neuk. When he first came on he was immediately engaged with the crowd, playing a number of originals including the song ‘Mr Bus Man’ from his latest EP ‘The World Keeps Spinning’. Euan Black brought his trademark charisma with him on to the stage, making his lone vocal and guitar fill the room for the entire set. 

The second support act of the night was DayDrunk, a rock band from Scotland. The energy on the stage was incredible from the moment they struck the first note, and from where I was standing, the 4-piece band all looked like they belonged. They played a number of songs with a mixture of originals and one cover, playing their new single ‘Corner Couch’ and an unreleased song from their new project ‘Wallflower’, with the cover of the classic Fleetwood Mac song, ‘Dreams’, which they really made their own. 

The main act of the night was Katie Nicoll, a local Pop artist from Scotland. She came onto the stage with her energetic performance, playing all original songs, including her next unreleased single ‘I Liked You Better’. The audience were singing along and vibing with her, even to songs that were unreleased, with Katie playing a really cool mix of lone acoustic and full band numbers. 

Finally, I have to say that I really enjoyed watching the gig at McChuills, the unique atmosphere of the venue adds an intangible element to the music and it’s this sort of grassroots venue that we have to keep alive.
